The original Gerber high speed steel blade with chrome handle knives
are almost indestructible!
Group Click for group deal

Gerber original walnut display with five chrome handle hunting knives. The knives are from the left to the right: Big Hunter (11"); Pixie (7"); Flayer (8-1/4"); Shortly (8-3/4"); Magnum (11"). All knives are mint. All knife sizes above are the overall length of each knife. The display is 19-3/4" X 16" X 2-1/4" outside dimensions with glass cover and in excellent condition. The frame is made of sold walnut with a wood backing and ready to hang on the wall. Each knife is held in the display by metal hooks. The background of the display is form fitted to hold each knife and then covered with a golden velvet like material. The display has room for four more fixed blades and the Gerber Folding Hunter. This display would have been in a retail store showing the fine Gerber line, either on the counter or wall, to who ever walked by.

Two of the knives that would have been included in the display from the factory are the gray handled Mark II and the first folder that Gerber made called the Folding Hunter. The Mark II fits into the upper left hand corner and the Folding Hunter goes in the upper right corner. We do not know what the other three knives where, maybe they where the Coho, Muskie and Mini Magnum.

They hold an edge nearly forever!

All the knives and the display where made about 1965 to 1969. Gerber is famous for their fine walnut boxes and displays from the past. They had their own in house wood working shop. A early original item of Gerber Legendary Blade history and a fine collection! If a person put together the other missing knives along with this fine group they would have most of the best blades ever made by Gerber. Remember none of these knives are still in production and they are very hard to find mint. This style of chrome handle knives is what Gerber made after the war in 1946. Their kitchen knives with chrome handles, which are cousins to the hunting knives, are in the Museum of Modern Art design collection in New York.

The knives and display are available separately!

The following in bold is from the Gerber paper work that came with the knives back when they came out:

Extra-strong blades are precision ground to a razor sharp, double-wedge shape and boast a super-hardness of Rockwell C60-62. Special industrial hard-chrome plating keeps these high speed tool steel blades bright and stainless through the demanding use for which this series was designed.

The descriptions below match the order of the knives above.
