I have a question about the Knife Web Guide?
-
Why should you come to our web site?
1. Question:
Do you buy knives?
Answer: We are always looking for clean quality factory made
and some custom made knives to purchase. We
pay fair, competitive buy prices and provide firm, accurate quotes by email. Usually, we can buy everything you have to offer, saving you the
time and energy required selling it piece-by-piece. When your knife arrives, we
will unpack and inspect it. Then, we will send your check within 48 hours in
accordance with our agreement. See next question below for how to sell to us.
2. Question:
How do I sell my knife (knives) to
Cutler's Cove?
Answer: Go to our How to Sell or Trade Page.
3. Question:
How
does Cutler's
Cove grade the condition of the knives
they sell?
Answer: The system we use for knife grading and
describing a knife’s condition is on our Knife
Grading Page.
4. Question:
What payment forms do you accept?
Answer: We accept Personal Checks (Personal Checks take two
weeks to clear), Money Order, Cashiers Check, in USA Dollars, or charge
with VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express through PayPal. Gift Certificates are available. We
also take
Western Union Payment.
5.Question:
What
is the best time of day to place an order to ensure it will be processed and
shipped that same day?
Answer: If placing an order by email,
it’s best to send us your order the previous night, or before 1:00 afternoon CST that
day. For further information, please visit our Shipping
Page.
6. Question:
How late can I order for next day delivery?
Answer: The order needs to be placed before
1:00 afternoon CST. See our
Shipping Page for the cost of next day delivery.
7. Question:
What
shipping companies do you use?
Answer: Our preferred way of shipping is
USPS Priority Mail with insurance. We will also ship with Fed Ex. The
shipping charge will be higher. For more information see the
Shipping
Page.
8. Question:
What

Answer: How To Contact

9. Question:
Do
you allow walk-ins! Can I visit your store’s location?
Answer: We do not have a traditional
storefront. We are on the road so much that finding us in San Angelo sometimes
is hard. So therefore we do not allow walk-ins. But you can see our knives at
the different shows we do.
10. Question:
Can
I see your knives at a show in person?
Answer: This link will take you to our
Show
Schedule around the country. Look for our yellow sign when you get to the
show.
11. Question:
How
long have you been in business?
Answer: Since 1991. Check back at CutlersCove.com
often for the newest events and join in the fun.
At shows since 1991 on the net since 1999!

12. Question:
What
is your sales tax policy?
Answer: If you live in Texas we must collect
8.25% sales tax on the purchase, but not the shipping.
13. Question:
Are
items insured in transit?
Answer: We insure all merchandise in transit,
unless you give us permission in writing to not insure the product.
14. Question:
What
are your live operator hours?
Answer: You should be able to reach us during normal business hours. If you miss us try again a few hours later. We do have 24 hour voice mail so that you can leave an order by phone. We will email or call you back if you will leave your contact information and what you wanted. How to contact us and our hours of operation are
here.
Because we are on the road it is sometimes difficult to give us orders
over the phone. Please place your orders over the Internet at
orders,
or through the USPS mail. Or just keep trying.

15. Question:
Why
does a knife that I purchased, say 10 years ago, cost so much more now than when
I purchased it?
Answer: There are several
reasons for the increase in price over the years:
- Materials and labor have gone up each year.
- The dollar looses value each year because of inflation.
- Each year more of the knife that you had back then are lost or worn out,
which will make the ones left worth more to a collector or a user that wants
to own, and use a particular knife that is no longer made.
- If your knife was made over seas back then, the dollar has also lost value
against the German Mark and the Japanese Yen in the last few years. It may
have lost value against other currencies but Germany and Japan are where
most of the quality knives from over seas come from. The exchange rate back
in the 1970’s was 300 to 350 for the Yen to each USA dollar. To day the
exchange rate is about 100 for each Yen. So that means if you want a knife
from several of the countries over seas you will pay many more dollars to
get it.
- The company that made your knife may have only made a small number and
that will cause a knife to go up in value.
- The Neat factor as used by Levine in his Guide to Knives and
Their Value. The Neat factor is when a knife looks neat to you
and you want it bad, so therefore you will pay more for the knife, because
you have got to have it.
- The company may have gone out of business and that will sometimes make a
knife go up in value.

16. Question: Do you
match or beat prices?
Answer: Because most of what we sell is relatively hard to
find, it is difficult to beat prices. We will try to match price on same item if
you find one just like ours.
17. Question: Do you have
a mailing list?
Answer: Go to our Join Our Mailing List to sign up.
We will be happy to notify you of Special Offers, Rebates, Discounts, New
Products, and changes to the web site.
We
do not have a Product Catalog or Retail Price List. The web site
is the Catalog and Price List.
18. Question:
Do
you have a catalog that you mail out?
Answer: We do not have a catalog that we mail
out
because
the
inventory
changes
to
often
and
too
fast.
The
catalog
would
be
out
of
date
before
it
was
mailed.

us

19.
Question:
Can I set up
an account?
Answer: We do not have charge accounts.
20. Question:
Do
you accept bulk or distributor orders?
Answer:
We
deal
mainly
in
vintage
knives
so
we
do
not
have
bulk
pricing
because
we
usually
only
have
one
to
sell. Because we only have one of most items we do not offer wholesale pricing. We do have
Sales, Featured Knife each week, and our
Just Reduced page. All three offer price reductions on select items.
You can also make an offer on any item we have for sale. Use the email form
here. Just let us know what you are interested in and then make an offer. The best we will do is take your offer and the worst we will do is decline your offer. Most of the time we do not take less until after the item has been on the site for at least 90 days.
21. Question: Can I
special order items?
Answer:
We
deal
mainly
in
vintage
knives
so
we
do
not
order
new
knives
on
a
regular
bases.
If
you
are
not
in
a
hurry
we
will special
order at no extra charge! If we do not
have what you are looking for let us special order the knife or knives. We have
a general knife catalog that we order from. We normally give a 20% discount with
the order and payment up front before ordering. We will send you a receipt
showing paid in full. We can then ship the knife to you or any address you want.
Or we can bring the knife to you at the next show. Let us know if we can help?
22. Question: Is your
Web order form secure?
Answer: We do have a shopping cart. What to know more, see our
Security
Statement.
23. Question:
What
do you do with my contact information/e-mail?
Answer: See our Privacy
Statement.
24. Question:
What
is your return or exchange policy?
Answer: Shop with confidence. Our hassle-free return privilege
allows you to return any item for any reason within 14 days of purchase. All the details

27. Question: Do you
accept orders by fax?
Answer: No. Please use our
order form to
send by mail your order to us with all the information filled out. Or phone us
for the best and fastest service.
28. Question:
Do
you accept and fulfill international orders?
Answer: We
will ship outside the USA, but we will not take credit card
payment or PayPal on international orders. Buyer is
responsible
for
all
tariffs
and
duties
and
must
pay
international
shipping
charges.
We
will ship to your country but because of custom laws we can not
guarantee that you will get the knife. Also some times insurance
may not work. So therefore we let you know the bad news up front.
We do not ship until the money order has cleared our bank which
can take two weeks or more after we get your funds. We will let
you know the date of shipping and the tracking number on the
package by email. We require a money order in USA dollars before
we will ship to you. Once we receive an order we hold the knife
for 5 to 10 days to get the funds here at our office. We can give
more time if needed, let us know.
We
will let you know the total cost of shipping and insurance. There
is no cost to let you know the shipping if you will send us your
shipping address. We will email you the cost as fast as possible.
Sorry for the trouble with international orders but we have had
some problems and this is the only way we can help you get your
product and make sure we get our money. We will be glad to work with you
just let us know what you want to do.
29.
Question:
Do you have a minimum order requirement?
Answer: We regret that the costs of doing business precludes us from processing orders less than $10.00 merchandise value (exclusive of shipping and handling.) We will return orders of less than $10.00 merchandise value.

the same time; representing the high quality of a past time; classic; being the
best of its kind; choice.
A vintage knife will usually be higher in cost than when it

Why should you come to our web site?
Answer: We may have the long
lost knife that you had in the past or one that you’re father or granddad
had long ago. That is what we deal in, knives from the near and distant
past. The knives that are no longer made, no longer in production and maybe
hard to find are what you will find on our web site.
If you are looking for the newest or latest knives we will not be able to
help you on our website CutlersCove.com but go to our KnifeWebGuide.com site
and there you will find many dealers listed that deal in the new current
stuff. Spend some time with us; you will be glad you did.
