One of the first Buck Kalinga hunting knife!
It has a black Micarta handle not phenolic.

There where four black Micarta handled fixed blade knives that came out early in the Buck line. They where the top of the line for Buck at that time. They made up the presentation grade knives and where the Frontiersman Bowie model 124; Hunter's axe model 106; Kalinga hunting knife model 401 and Akonua hunting knife model 402. This group of knives came out 20 to 30 years ago.

Copy from the little booklet that came with the original Kalinga's:
Finest of the Buck line, the Kalinga is a new large game knife. New in concept, it embodies all of the high quality craftsmanship found in Buck Knives. This unique handmade model, made of the finest high carbon steel, measures 10" overall, with a 5" blade designed to permit the full skinning sweep desired by todays big game hunters. It has on unbreakable handle, of laminated, wood-grain Buckarta, which is fashioned to fit the hand. The full tang extends the length of the handle.

The Kalinga, most sacred of all Watusi drums, was the king's crown, scepter and seal, and any transfer of the Kalinga carried with it immediate allegiance to its owner. We like to feel that the Buck Kalinga is also the badge of authority for all sportsman who wear it.
