Al Mar Knives decals and cigar. Knife Memorabilia Collection. We only have one of the cigar to sell and very limited quantities of the decal.

All the items on this page are very unique Al Mar ephemera and hard to find. They are some of the ultimate items to add your collection.

Al Mar was working for an industrial design firm in Los Angeles in 1967. Gerber's first designer retired about this time and Al Mar joined Gerber Legendary Blades in 1967 or 68 (American Blade magazine Dec. 1976) after Pete Gerber gave Al the task of coming up with an aluminum handle for a kitchen knife. Pete Gerber thought the project was very successful and offered Al the position of design chief. Did you know that Al is credited with designing the Gerber Mark I.

He left Gerber in 1979 to start Al Mar Knives and he died in October of 1992. Al was 54 years old. The new owners have now discontinued most of the original models and moved to other makers on the remaining models. This leaves the knives made while Al was in control of the company very desirable and collectible! Mar is Chinese for horse.

This one has hand written Ryanne and Tina in ink. Ryanne is Al Mar's daughter. After Al's death in 1992 his wife, Ann along with their daughter Ryanne ran the company until 1996 when Gary Fadden took over as owner and CEO. I do not know who Tina was but my guess she worked for Al Mar Knives and the hand written phone number matches the Tina signature.  Sold

Al Mar cigar is the one on the bottom center in the photo above. It is mint with paper ring around the cigar in plastic wrap. The paper ring has AMK and the red logo. The cigar is 6-1/2" by 3/4". A great addition for the Havana Clipper by Al Mar but much harder to find. Perfect for any cigar aficionado or Al Mar collector.  Sold

I think it is the shape known as parejo, which has a cylindrical body, straight sides, one end open, and a round cap on the other end which is either snipped off before smoking or a small hole is punched in the center of the end.

  • Lonsdale (6-1/2" x 42)
  • Grand Corona (6-1/2" x 46)
  • Torpedo (6-1/2" x 52)
  • Ring Gauge - The diameter of a cigar's barrel, expressed in 64ths of an inch. A 32 ring is 32/64" (1/2"), for example.
  • We do not know if it is a great cigar but we do know it is unique. How many Al Mar cigars have you seen?
  • We have had the cigar for years, don't know when they came out
  • We have one (1) for sale.
